abigail (2024)
film · horror, supernatural
a dancing child killer vampire... that's new. the plot's cliche and messy, but still somehow entertaining? fun fact: last year i saw a clip of matthew goode as lazaar, which made me watch all two and a half seasons of a discovery of witches, which made my friend 🕯️ watch it too and read the books.

expedition deep ocean, episode 3
documentary · deep sea exploration
i know i've said that the documentary's tone is very... commercial, but if you really think about it, the team did acquire a ton of scientific data in multiple fields that have a massive real-world potential. now i'm thinking about the ethics of sharing those data...

the freezing water poses a new challenge (on top of everything else) in the southern ocean. vescovo was brave for continuing even without the comms. i mean, i wonder if it's sunk cost fallacy at some point but he gambled with his life and won. that takes guts

expedition deep ocean, episode 1
documentary · deep sea exploration
i kind of fell down the rabbit hole of deep sea exploration after discovering this cool website. it led me to the hadal zone, then to challenger deep, a little about the piccards, and then on victor vescovo. when i was reading about him on the wiki, i was really amazed and thought he was some tony stark brain and wealth combination. he did achieve great feats! but i think i was a bit disappointed after the first episode of his documentary. i don't think the series itself was good, it felt very commercial. but i'm looking forward to maybe looking up other materials about him (and actually finishing the series).

god, this made me remember the awful phase of trial and error in finding the therapist that would suit you the best. finding the one is harder than finding your true love, i would say (but don't quote me. i've never been in love). i feel very lucky that i found my current and so far the longest psychiatrist and therapist i've worked with. this is for u, dr. r. thanks for sticking with me even when i've ghosted u twice.

deep end - ali hazelwood (dnf)
book · romance
okay this is NOT for me. it's weird but i feel like in fanfiction i'd like it, but in original works like this i don't. and i think i said the same thing about bride. some things really should just stay in ao3. but i still feel both respect and fear of ali hazelwood for her bravery on bridging notorious fanfiction tropes to a wider audience

romance is not dead !
blog post · filipiniana, culture, linguistics
this entire project is very interesting. i'm so, so glad i found this on the internet. you just gotta be there during the rise of wattpad (esp in the ph) and how almost all (male) leads have foreign names. maybe that's also part of the reason why jonaxx' fanbase is just so strong. aside from her very filipino character names, her stories are also mostly set in (fictional) provinces rather than the urban city. i have a love/criticizing relationship with her, and i may write about it in the future. but if you're filo and had a wattpad phase, this is an interesting read!

pizza movie (2026)
film · comedy
this popped up randomly on my disney+ homepage (i guess i've chanced upon the moment of its release?) and i went in blind for gaten. it was... trippy. i can't say i've watched a lot of stoner comedies. i was trying to comprehend what's happening in the first half, and it only became funny when i stopped doing so in the latter half. lysander ftw
